We are currently updating our bibliography. Soon there will be available a summary of each report and resource we have referenced.
Listed below are links to the various reports, data and analysis from the UK Government, Arts Council, University’s, Unions, Cultural Campaign groups, Trusts, Cultural Committees and academic essays. Whilst the majority have been analysed in full, some reports have been accessed for their Executive Summaries and top line data only.
Whilst most major reports highlight challenges in the creative industries, Covid-19 has been an accelerant to deepen existing issues into a full blown crisis. Whereas the majority of the reports are from 2020 to 2023, this list should be viewed in conjunction with the multiple news stories from 2023/24 (in a seperate blog) that work to bring the research up to date.
This Bibliography is a working document and we continue to update it as we discover new reports and articles. If you have read something you think we've missed and should be included, please get in touch.
Shaping the Arts has taken a historical view of theatre and opera from the formation of the Arts Council in 1945 to the present day.
